Chapter 5: Reunion at Mount Tai

A person has three souls and seven spirits; when the soul is scattered and the lamp is extinguished, a person dies. What are called ghosts and monsters have two kinds.

One is refinement, such as the commonly seen yellow peel spirit, tree spirit, snake spirit and fox spirit. Heaven and earth create all things, all things have spirituality, this world is not just for humans to cultivate, spiritual animals or plants, their understanding of heaven, earth and the universe may not be inferior to that of humans.

Two are ghost souls, humans have three souls, heaven and earths fate, each in charge of fortune, yang life and body. The heavenly soul is in charge of fortune, the earthly soul is in charge of fate, the two souls of heaven and earth were born from yin and yang, everything is predetermined, cannot be reversed, cannot be changed, cannot be moved. There are high-ranking people who combine the five elements, yin-yang, eight trigrams, and numerology to understand human fortune, observe human disaster and blessing, open mountains and establish sects, all of which have been passed down for thousands of years, believers believe in themselves, non-believers do not believe. When a person dies, the lamp goes out, then the two souls of heaven and earth automatically disappear, leaving only the soul of fate to return to the yellow soil, walk the Yellow Spring Road, cross the Naihe Bridge, look up at the Hometown Platform, drink Meng Pos soup.

Arrived at the judges place, went through all the causes and effects of the previous life, settled accounts for past actions, those who were wrong would be punished, those who were right would be rewarded. This is what people often say as accumulating good deeds, doing good things, in the future when reincarnated can have a good destination.

There are some people who, before they die, have unfinished business or do not want to leave, so they refuse to go to the underworld to report. After a long time, they become wandering spirits. The yin and yang principles cannot coexist, and if a spirit stays in the human world for too long, its yin energy will gradually dissipate and eventually turn into a wisp of smoke, without even a chance at reincarnation. This is the natural law.

There are still some people who refuse to leave, lingering in the mortal world, with many romantic affairs. With power, wealth, status, grievances, and desires, human desires are endless, and even death cannot change them. These things are called "yīn qì" (hidden breath). Yīn qì will continue to expand with human desire, eventually becoming a "ghost".

Each kind of "ghost" has different degrees of ferocity due to the different reasons for the formation of their karma from past lives. There are good and bad ones, and they cant be killed with one stick. Some people die wanting to repay kindness, while others die wanting to avenge themselves. These things should exist in the world, but when they violate the heavenly decree and disrupt the balance between yin and yang, someone will come out to clean up the mess.

Taoist, is a class of people who are proficient in the five elements and yin-yang, can mobilize the power of gods and ghosts, can drive out evil spirits, can overcome disasters, can arrange Feng Shui, and can see through destiny. They are the messengers of balance between the two realms of yin and yang, endowed by heaven and earth with the ability to mobilize the power of wind, water, and the five elements for their own use, this is the principle that where there is evil, there must be good.

Who is this mad Taoist who appeared in Hong Village? He was the mad Taoist who calculated that my little aunt would have a calamity at the age of nine.

Ma Suifeng, also known as Qingfeng Daoren, is the 26th generation leader of the Tianzheng Dao sect. He is also the master of Cha Wenbin!

Our story, the real beginning, starts with him.

Ma Suifeng has been in Hongcun Village for more than half a month. He is not from the northwest of Zhejiang Province, but from Sichuan Province.

Sichuan, Qingcheng Mountain, the sacred land of Taoism, the opening of Zhang Daolings Taoist temple, and the incense is flourishing. Since the establishment of Taoism, this has been the most sacred place in the hearts of believers, surrounded by large and small Taoist temples standing around Qingcheng. In the early 20th century, when the flames of war began to burn on Chinese soil, a abandoned baby was left at the foot of Qingcheng Mountain.

This is a male abandoned baby, wrapped in a red flower quilt on a cold winters day, with a letter inside containing the childs birth date. The face had already been frozen to purple, and a Taoist passing by picked up the child and asked the farmer for help, barely saving his life.

This Taoist priest is Ma Dingyan, the 25th leader of the Tianzheng Taoist sect.

Ma Dingyan is not a Sichuan native, his home is in a mountain village not far from Juzhong Maoshan, he came to Qingcheng to visit a Taoist friend. Since taking on Ye Huan as an apprentice, he had planned to carefully cultivate him and make him his successor in the future.

Ye Huan, who was seven years old that year, had an extremely intelligent talent. At the age of five, he could recite the "Tao Te Ching" and "Taiping Jing" fluently. Ma Dingyan was very delighted, thinking that Ye Huans future achievements would definitely surpass his own, even rivaling those of their master Ling Zhengyang. Just a few days ago, on Qingcheng Mountain, the leader of the Heavenly Master sect, Gui Yun Dashi, was still praising Ye Huan to no end. This is the sacred temple of the Taoist school personally transmitted by Zhang Daoling, and Ma Dingyan was overjoyed to receive such recognition from the master.

Tianzheng Dao is different from other sects, with a single transmission through the generations, one master and one disciple, without any second line. This is the rule set by Master Ling Zhengyang. Ma Dingyan saw that the child was too weak and thought of finding a nearby household to send him to, but when he saw the childs birth eight characters, his heart was shocked, and he calculated with his hand that the child had 16 ominous signs in his fate, fearing that he would not be able to survive if left here.

Ma Dingyuans heart was kind, and he hastily took the child to Qingcheng Mountain, intending to send the child into the Taoist temple.

The Cloud Master didnt want to, but at this moment he sent a young boy down to see him off, and gave him a sentence: "Clear wind sends the son to Qing City below, the Tao is born from the heart and the heavens are upright; everything is predetermined."

Then, the child was taken back to his hometown by Ma Dingyan, followed by his own surname, named "Su Feng", and also made him Ye Huans junior fellow, with the Taoist name "Qing Feng".

If Ye Huan had walked the right path, Ma Suifeng would not have taken over. However, he was too talented and at the age of 18, Ma Dingyan sent Ye Huan out to travel and learn Taoism for three years. As the three-year period approached, Ye Huan returned with a completely changed temperament, his body filled with corpse energy.

Ma Dingyan knew that his beloved disciple had already entered the underworld, and it was too late to turn back. The two engaged in a fierce battle, Ma Dingyan relied on decades of Taoist practice to blind Ye Huans left eye, but he himself suffered severe injuries to his chest and passed away two years later.

At the moment of his death, Ma Ding-yuan passed on the position of leader to Ma Su-feng and told him all the reasons for the various events in the Tianzheng sect. Apart from the teachings that Tianzheng had given when he founded the sect, he also instructed him to clean up the sect and get rid of Ye Huan.

Ye Huan had been out of contact since escaping from Tian Zheng, and Ma Suifeng searched everywhere during his travels, but even after liberation, he couldnt find any news about Ye Huan, whether she was dead or alive. In the end, he still couldnt find her.

Hongcun, Ma Su has been searching for five years, his footsteps have searched all over the nine states.

Half a year ago at Mount Tai, the Viewing Heaven Platform, the starry sky, this stone where emperors of past dynasties made sacrifices to heaven, Ma Su was not here for the first time, he comes every year on this day, just to see those two stars among countless others.

On the perpendicular bisector of the fourth and seventh stars of the Big Dipper, there is a star that shines brightly and then dims. It last appeared 100 years ago. Tian Zhengdao, Luo Men, and countless others are staring at it, waiting for the moment when it will shine again.

The fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month, the moon is very round, but the sky is quite cool.

Ma Suifeng held a wine gourd in one hand and rested the other on the back of his neck, every year only once, he would come to this place, said to be the closest to heaven, just quietly waiting.

Mount Tai, uniquely revered among the Five Sacred Mountains, swallows the Western Huashan, presses down on Southern Hengshan, rides over Central Songshan and surpasses Northern Hengshan, being the greatest of all mountains.

Mount Tai is located in the east, where the sun rises, and ancient people thought it was the place of renewal and rebirth. According to the "Five Elements", the east belongs to wood, according to the "Five Virtues" it is benevolence, according to the "Four Seasons" it is spring, in the "Eight Trigrams" it belongs to Zhen, and in the "Twenty-eight Constellations" it is Qinglong.

"The character "" (east) is written as "" in traditional form, which is a pictorial character consisting of "" (tree) and "" (sun). The character "" was used interchangeably with "" (mulberry) in oracle bone script, hence the legend of the sun rising from the mulberries. "Ren" represents the great virtue of heaven and earth, "Chun" symbolizes the rebirth of all things, and "Zhen" and "Canglong" represent the place where emperors were born and rose to power. Therefore, emperors throughout history have come here to worship heaven, seeking recognition from heaven and earth in order to truly rule the world."

Thus, Mount Tai became a mountain of good fortune, the dwelling place of gods, the source of purple energy, and the origin of all things. Even a single blade of grass, a tree, or a stone could respond to its divine light. In the land of Qi and Lu, there is still a saying passed down that "eating the lingzhi mushroom from Mount Tai can make one young again and never grow old." When emperors before Qin dynasty made sacrifices on Mount Tai, they were afraid of hurting the mountain rocks and offending the gods, so they wrapped their chariot wheels with soft grass when ascending the mountain. Even Qin Shi Huang did this, which shows the status of Mount Tai in peoples hearts.

"This place is great, its just a pity that there are too many greedy thoughts." Ma Su said to himself as he poured another mouthful of wine. Indeed, as he said, which emperor didnt want to live forever? Which emperor ascended the throne and didnt want to come here? On the surface, they came to worship heaven, but in reality, everyone wanted to experience the feeling of having the whole world under their feet.

"The more he is gone, the greater his words are carried out. Scholars look up to him like Mount Tai and the North Dipper Clouds." Ma Su poured himself another mouthful of wine, then said with a smile: "Its nothing but this..."

From afar, a faint voice suddenly came: "Its nothing but that, what a big tone!"

A small red pennant beside Ma Su suddenly stood up with a "brush" sound.

A flag is waving without wind, there must be ghosts and monsters within three miles! Upon smelling the air again, a hint of death scent was faintly emitted. Ma Su Feng stood up with his Seven-Star Sword and looked around, shouting: "What kind of thing is haunting this place!"

That voice burst out laughing with a "giggle", laughed so hard it was infectious.

"Its not a ghost, its a human!" Ma Suifeng immediately understood that this Tai Mountain was originally the ladder of heaven and earth, all things were baptized by the sun, moon and stars, and anything dirty could not come to Tai Mountain, only humans can climb the mountain.

Ma Su put away his sword and changed his tone: "Who is it? Since youve come, why dont you show yourself?"

After a moment, a person wearing a black long gown came out. The clothes on the persons body were painted with a "寿" character as big as a round plate. On his feet, he wore a pair of black-faced white-soled cloth shoes. In one hand, he held a soul-calling banner, and in the other hand, a small white snake was coiled around it. This white snake was very strange, with horns on its head, and whats even more astonishing is that there were four legs on the snakes body, just like a miniature dragon! Whats even more puzzling is that although the sky was pitch black, this person still wore a pair of old-fashioned black-rimmed sunglasses.

"That man played with the small snake in his hand and said: Long time no see, are you well, Master Ma?"

Ma Sus face changed greatly as he exclaimed: "Ye Huan?"
